Overwatch 2 Meta Overview

Heroes, comps and ultimate economy.

Blizzard’s 5v5 hero shooter emphasises team play, mobility and ability combos. The meta is defined by tank choice, cooldown trading and ultimate timing. Engage too early and you die; engage too late and you lose space.

Roles & Compositions

Each team fields one Tank, two Damage and two Support heroes. Tanks (Ramattra, Winston) set the pace; Supports (Kiriko, Ana) sustain and enable plays; Damage heroes (Tracer, Hanzo) secure kills and pressure angles. Compositions fall into Dive, Brawl or Poke depending on tank and DPS choices. Dive uses mobility to isolate targets; Brawl closes distance with sustain; Poke chips from range before pushing.

Cooldown & Ult Management

Engagements revolve around trading cooldowns: defensive abilities like Suzu and Lamp negate enemy pushes, while offensive CDs like Dash and Hook secure picks. Track ultimates on both sides; fights are won by comboing your ults or countering theirs.

Improvement

Beginners should learn one hero per role, focusing on positioning and timing. Intermediate players should study map-specific comps and the rock/paper/scissors of Dive vs Brawl vs Poke. Advanced players refine ult tracking, tempo control and match‑ups, adapting picks mid‑match.
