StarCraft II Meta Overview

Races, build orders and match‑ups.

SC2 revolves around three asymmetric races: Terran, Protoss and Zerg. Each has unique macro mechanics (Mules, Chrono, Larva) and play styles. The meta is defined by crisp build orders, scouting and timing attacks.

Race Identities

Terrans rely on bio (Marines/Marauders/Medivacs) and mech (Tanks, Thors) compositions, with drops and positioning. Protoss fields gateway armies, splash damage (Colossus, Disruptors) and powerful recall. Zerg swarms with Zerglings, Banelings, Mutas and later Lurkers or Brood Lords.

Match‑ups & Timings

Each match‑up (TvZ, TvP, PvZ, mirrors) has standard openings and timing attacks. Learn to scout tech and react: build spores vs air, bunkers vs early lings. Hitting your upgrades and unit count at 3–4 bases is the key to breaking opponents.

Growth Path

Beginner players should practise macro: avoid supply blocks, spend resources and follow a build order. Intermediate players incorporate scouting and aggression. Advanced players master multi‑prong attacks, tech switches and efficient trading.
