StarCraft: Brood War Meta Overview
Positioning, mechanics and macro.Brood War plays differently from SC2: no smart cast, limited pathing and true high‑ground advantages. Macro and micro require precise control and strong positional play.
Races & Playstyle
Terran uses Tank/Vulture lines and pushes slowly across the map. Protoss relies on Zealot/Dragoon into high‑tech (Templar, Reaver). Zerg uses Mutas, Lurkers and Defilers. Positioning around ramps and bridges decides fights.
Mechanics
No MBS or rally: every production structure must be controlled. Workers are built from the town hall, so don’t queue too many. There’s no queued research; upgrade timings must be manually managed.
Timing Windows
Strong Terran pushes come with Siege mode and +1 weapons; Protoss powerspikes with Dragoon range and Storm; Zerg powerspikes with Lurkers and Defiler tech. Play safe early, scout and punish mistakes.
